Bwindi Retired Rangers
Decades of anti-poaching patrols leave rangers with little to retire on. This program provides pensions, healthcare, and a second livelihood for those who protected Bwindi's gorillas.
A Debt Long Overdue
For over twenty years, Bwindi's rangers patrolled dense mountain forest on foot, often unarmed against poachers and always at personal risk, to protect one of the last populations of mountain gorillas on Earth. Many retire with no pension, no healthcare, and no plan for what comes next.
Urban Rewild works with the Uganda Wildlife Authority to change that — providing a monthly stipend, medical cover, and training toward a second livelihood for every ranger who served a minimum of ten years.

"I gave the forest twenty-six years. Now the forest is giving something back to me."
