Working alongside local communities, conservation groups, and landholders to protect, restore, and reconnect koala habitats across the Eurobodalla region. Together, we're helping secure a healthier future for one of Australia's most iconic species.
A Landscape in Recovery
The Black Summer fires left much of the Eurobodalla region unrecognisable. Entire stands of eucalypt — the koala's only food source — were reduced to blackened trunks overnight. Surviving koalas were left without shelter, food, or safe passage between remaining patches of bush.
Urban Rewild has spent the past five years working with local landholders, fire ecologists, and wildlife carers to bring the forest — and the koalas within it — back.
Our Approach
Habitat Regeneration
Replanting fire-resilient eucalypt species chosen with local ecologists.
Population Tracking
GPS collars and health checks on rescued and returned koalas.
Corridor Building
Connecting isolated bushland so koalas can move and breed safely.
