In partnership with Edwina Robinson from The Climate Factory and myself Urban Rewild, we are creating the very first Eurobodalla Micro- Forest on a perfect site at St John’s Anglican Parish in Moruya.
I am super excited to be working on this project with Edwina, she is passionate about our climate conditions and our urban heat island effect. Edwina has already created two very successful micro forests in Canberra, and one is under construction. And these will be showcased on an upcoming ABC Gardening Australia episode.
Edwina has adopted the Miyawaki Practice of planting trees. In short, it is about planting with climate change in mind and planting trees that can adapt to our future hotter conditions, and mass planting to create that cooling effect. See the photos below of a before and after in Downer, Canberra in only 2 years.
We are going to run a crowd-funding campaign starting mid-October for 30 days. We need to raise a minimum of $17,000 which is our all-or-nothing, but we need $34,000 to finish the projection. So we are gunning for $34,000 plus. We are offering large business pledge packages down to a $20 pledge from individuals.
It is wonderful to be partnering with Urban Rewild and the Climate Factory on this project which is all part of our urban greening mission.
